John G. Hengesbach Westphalia John G. Hengesbach, 54, of Westphalia died unexpectedly on Friday, November 18, 2016. He was born in Lansing, MI on January 13, 1962 the son of Albin and RuthAnn (Smith) Hengesbach. He was co-owner in Albin Hengesbach Carpentry and Custom Cabinets for 36 years and A&H Homes LLC, since 2003. John volunteered at the Westphalia Parks and Recreation Department for a number of years and was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters. John will be remembered for his love for his family and for being the rock we depended on. He truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures of socializing with family and friends, being an avid PW High School athletics supporter, and hosting U of M football parties at deer camp. He especially enjoyed time with his great nieces. John was preceded in death by his father, Albin; sister, Sharon; brother, Steven; grandparents, Tony and Marcella Hengesbach and Julius and Julia Smith; special uncle, Jim Hengesbach; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. John is survived by his mother, RuthAnn; brothers, Brian Hengesbach of Westphalia and Glenn Hengesbach of Lansing; sister, Carolyn (Brent) Henry of Lansing; nieces Abby, Kaitlyn (Chris), and Layne; nephews, Matt (Samantha), Nick, and William (Betsy); four great nieces, Parker, Marley, Matilyn, and Roseleigh; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Westphalia, with Rev. Eric Weber presiding. Rite of Committal will follow at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Westphalia. The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. Sunday and from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday at the St. Mary’s Funeral Chapel, 210 N. Westphalia St., Westphalia. The rosary will be prayed at 3 p.m. on Monday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary’s School or the Westphalia Fire Department in memory of John.
