Joseph Haskin

Ionia Joseph L. Haskin went to be with the Lord on June 9, 2011. He was born on November 29, 1924 the son of Levi and Mary Haskin in Ionia, MI. After graduating from Ionia High School in 1942 he joined the Army and served 3 years in New Guinea and the Philippines where he met his future wife. He married Patricia Roehrdanz in Ionia on February 6, 1946 and has resided his entire life in Ionia. He worked 34 years for the State of MI, retiring in 1980. Joe loved the outdoors. He loved to fish, hunt, trap, canoe with his family, his friends and dog Peggy. In later years he loved to walk. Everyday at 7:30 A.M. he and his wife Pat walked 1-1.5 miles. Perhaps you even saw them walking downtown or at Meijers. Surviving are his wife, Patricia; children, Mike (Julie) Haskin and Lois (Gary) Nickel; grandson, Scott (Heather) Haskin; great grandchildren, Michael, Isabelle, Joseph, Levi and Patrick Haskin; sister, Margarette Manley and several nieces. The Funeral Service will be conducted by Pastor, Kenneth Harger at 1:00 P.M, Monday, June 13, 2011 at the Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home, 220 Rich St., Ionia, MI 48846. Interment will follow the service at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 4-6 P.M. For those desiring, memorial contribution may be made to the Shiloh Community Church or the Ionia Co. Commission on Aging.
