Westphalia Age 81, passed away at home surrounded by his family on Saturday, June 2, 2012. He was born on April 15, 1931 in Clinton Co. the son of John A. and Theresa (Knoop) Pohl. Joseph was member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Westphalia, an adult alter server, lead many rosaries and served as an usher for 45 years. He served on the Westphalia Township board for 18 years and was a life member of the Knights of Columbus and St. Jospeh Society. Joseph was a medic in the U.S. Army. He loved to play cards, traveling, watching sports and spending time with his family. On October 20, 1962 he married Judith Pline and she preceded him death on December 22, 1988. He is also preceded in death by a infant grandson, Patrick Pohl. On July 20, 2001 he married Germaine Theis and she survives him. Also surviving are his children Kenneth (Kay) Pohl, Therese (Ron) Muir, James (Amy) Pohl, Mary Jo (Ken) Theis, Dianne Pohl, and Karen (Blaine) Burby; step-children Keith (Diana) Theis, Daniel (Altide) Theis, Rick (Vicki) Theis, Larry (Judy) Theis, Diane (Perry) Cook, Tom (Jan) Theis, Judy (Kurt) Schafer, Patty (Roy) Feldpausch, Karen (Harold) Hess and Dennis (Luann) Theis; grandchildren Adam, Judith, and John Pohl, Brandon Muir, Lindsey and Landon Pohl, Josh, Zack and Rachel Theis, Chris and Jeremy Burby, Bekkah Tripp, Samanthah Pappas and Tabithah Ringe; 5 great grandchildren; 53 step-grandchildren and great grandchildren; brother Arnold (Jeanette) Pohl; in-laws Alice Pline, Laura Pline, Agatha Pline, Wayne (Delores) Pline, Jean (Donald) Walter, Leon (Jo) Pline, Joan (Gilbert) Schafer; many nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws. The Mass of Chrisitan Burial will be celebrated at by Rev. James Conlon, Pastor, Rev. Cecilio Reyna, Rev. Donald Wieber, and Msgr. Sylvester Fedewa at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, June 6, 2012 at St. Mary's Catholic church, Westphalia. Rite of Committal will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. Military Graveside honors will be provided by the V.F.W. Fowler, Pewamo, Westphalia Post #3733. The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m., Monday and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., Tuesday at the St. Mary's Funeral Chapel, 210 N. Westphalia St., Westphalia. The rosaries will prayed at 8 p.m., Monday and 3 p.m., Tuesday. The Scriptural Wake service will be held at 8 p.m., Tuesday. Arrangements are with Lehman Funeral Homes, Portland.
