Joyce Densmore

Portland Age 83, passed away on April 23, 2009. She was born on March 25, 1926 in Lansing the daughter of Harold and Irene (Kramer) Palmiter. Joyce was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, and the Altar Society. She was very active in the family farm. Joyce enjoyed sewing, crocheting, knitting, and quilting. She also enjoyed gardening and birdwatching. She was employed by Auto Owners Insurance Company, Montgomery Wards and is retired from the Dept. of State after 19 years of service. Her family was very important to her, she enjoyed the yearly trip to Ludington and spending time during the winter in Florida with her husband, Francis. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Trevor Buck; sister Carol Ann Palmiter; brother-in-law Ken Rutledge and her husband of 61 years, Francis. Surviving are her children: Sr. Diane Densmore of Allen Park, Cheryl Pline of Grand Ledge, Dave (Tina) Densmore of Portland, Marlene (David) Simon of Portland, Linda (Brent Hadfield) Wheeler of Charlotte, Mary (Jan) Powell of Sheridan, Tom (Cathey) Densmore, Sr.; 19 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren and 3 on the way.; sisters Dorothy Rutledge and Betty (Donald) Cleeves; brothers Richard (Jackie) Palmiter and James (Janet) Palmiter; sister-in-law Clara Belle Nurenberg; many nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m., Monday, April 27, 2009 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Portland with Rev. Larry King, presiding. Rite of Committal will follow at Portland Cemetery. The family will receive friends 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., Sunday, April 26, 2009 at the Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home, 210 E. Bridge St., Portland. A rosary will be prayed at 3 p.m. and a Scriptural Wake Service will be held at 8 p.m..
