Joyce Giegler

Age 81, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, December 28, 2008. She was born on April 25, 1927 in Detroit, MI the daughter of Henry E. and Laura Belle (Rapp) Murdock. Joyce wore many different "hats" during her life, having been a school bus driver for Huron Valley Schools for 11 years, a medical assistant in a physician office, and a telephone operator. She enjoyed camping, traveling, visiting with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a fan of MSU sports, especially football and basketball. She enjoyed music of all kinds, enjoyed singing with the radio, especially on long trips with her daughter Wendy. She was a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW Post in Roscommon, MI. She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years Harold C. Giegler; brothers, Donald and Harold "Butch" Murdock; sisters, Shirley Wakefield and Joan Themm. She will be greatly missed by her children, Wendy Giegler and Mark (Roseann) Giegler; her grandchildren, Martha, Edith (Mark) and Will (Mary); her great grandchildren whom she dearly loved, Taylor, Mackenzie, Seth, Ayden, Emma, Kierra, Bradley and Jazmine. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and a special friend Jan Jensen. The family wishes to thank Kevin and Lisa for their help during Mom's illness. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 3, 2009 at the Zion United Methodist Church, Ionia with the Rev. Cliff Allen, Pastor officiating. Interment will take place later in the spring at Elmwood Cemetery in Grayling, MI. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society or a local animal shelter or to the Alzheimer's Association in memory of Joyce Ann Giegler.
