Joyce Luscher Obituary

Portland Passed away on Tuesday September 14, 2010. She was born on the family farm in Sebewa Township, the daughter of Victor and Ella (Peacock) Wilson. On May 2, 1941 she married Walter Luscher in Sebewa Township. Walter passed away in 1961. Surviving are three chidren: Judie (Chuck) Goodman of Portland, Bill (Karen) Luscher of Buchanan, TN, and Laurel Lee (Jack) Manning of Portland; five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; sister Carol Cassel of North Muskegon. She was a school teacher for over 40 years. She taught in one and two room schoolhouses until 1961 when she began teaching fourth grade for Portland Public Schools, she retired in 1985. She loved traveling, crossword puzzles and watching her grandchildren's and great grandchildren's sporting events. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Royal and Keith Wilson, and one sister Rose Ainsworth as well as her sisters-in-law Mary Anne and Wilma. The Funeral Service will be conducted by Pastor Jeff Schrock at 11:00a.m. Saturday September 18, 2010 at the Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home, 210 E Bridge St. Portland. Interment will be at East Sebewa Cemetery. The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Humane Society of your choice, Eaton Community Hospice, West Sebewa Methodist Church or the Portland District Library in her memory.
