LaMar Castle Obituary

Age 82, passed away on Sunday, April 18, 2010. LaMar was born on April 19, 1927 in Ionia the son of Henry and Edith (Merkle) Castle, Sr. LaMar was a World War II veteran and served in the Navy in the Pacific Theater. He retired from the State of Michigan Department of Corrections in 1983. The joys in his life were his family, pets, gardening, golfing, and fishing with his father, brother, and friends and family members. LaMar's grandchildren, nieces, and nephews will always remember fondly the stories, teases and tricks from him and his brother Hank. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Clifford and Henry, Jr.; grandson, Aaron Nash. On August 23, 1947 he married Joan "June" Cameron and together they shared 62 years of marriage. Surviving are his wife June; daughter, Chris (Duane) Nash; grandchildren, Sara Nash and fiance' Michael Serne, Adam Nash and fiance' Jennifer Klare; sister Pauline Knepper (Burt Hustead), niece Dal Onan (Randy Barnes), and nephews Jim (Kathy) Davis, and Matthew (Michelle) Castle. Private Memorial Services will be held. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to the Ionia County Animal Shelter, in memory of LaMar Kenneth Castle.
