Larry W. Spohn Portland Age 72, the Lord called our loving father, grandfather and great grandfather home on January 20, 2009. He was born the son of Paul and Sena (Peterson) Spohn. Larry worked in the block, brick and masonry trade prior to being a carpet layer for most of his life. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, K of C and the V.F.W. Post #4090. His pride and joy in life was his 5 sons and their families especially the grandchildren. He loved a good game of euchre and just taking a drive to wherever it took him. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Laura, brother-in-law Bill Willemin, in-laws George and Lena Benedict, stepmother Elaine Spohn and his goddaughter Susie Csepregi. Surviving are his children Mark (Marlys) Spohn, Steve (Shelly) Spohn, Ken (Sherri) Spohn, Jim (Doreen) Spohn and Joseph Spohn; grandchildren Jill (Dave) Carey, Josh (Brooke), Travis and Shaina, Tyler and Caleb, and James and Laura; great granddaughter Sadie; sisters V.A. (Al) Goodrich, Elaine "Bugsy" Willemin, Doreen (Jack) Warder, Diane (Denny) Goff, Debbie (Dan) Grohs; brothers Dan (Margo) Spohn and Don (Karen) Spohn; brother-in-law John (Mary Lou) Tannery; sister-in-law Alice (Bob) Nephew; many nieces and nephews. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 24, 2009 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, with Rev. Larry King presiding. Rite of Committal will follow at Portland Cemetery. The family will receive friends 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., Friday at the Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home, 210 E. Bridge St., Portland.
