LaVona Peabody

Age 94, passed away on Tuesday, April 12, 2005. She was born on February 17, 1911 in Ionia, MI the daughter of August F. and Edith (Lemke) Nimz. Mrs. Peabody was employed at Peske Meat Packaging Co. in Ionia for 25 years, and enjoyed crocheting, sewing and embroidery. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wesley Peabody in 1974; daughter, Elaine Cook; son, Robert Peabody; sister, Hazel Harrington. Surviving are her daughters, Joan Thorpe of Greenville, Brenda (Neil) Curtis of Bath, Marilyn Preston, Kathryn (Kenneth) Wray and Helen (Gary) Smiley, all of Ionia; 27 grandchildren; 52 great grandchildren; 9 great great grandchildren. The Funeral Service will be conducted by the Rev. Kirk Starkweather, Pastor of the Church of the Nazarene, Ionia, at 12:00 p.m. Friday, April 15, 2005, at the Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home, 220 Rich Street, Ionia. Interment will follow at Balcom Cemetery, Ionia. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. Thursday. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the American Alzheimers Association, in memory of Mrs. LaVona I. Peabody.
