Leo Hatt

Age 78, passed away on Tuesday, August 18, 2009. He was born on November 14, 1930 in Lake Odessa, MI the son of Hugh and Isabelle (Russell) Hatt. Mr. Hatt loved fishing for pike, deer hunting and goofing off and having a beer with the guys. He enjoyed bowling in league, watching old westerns on tv, and going out dancing and picking on everyone. He was a long time union steward at General Tire, where he worked in maintenance and earned his journeyman's card. He enjoyed talking with his grandchildren and teasing them and one of his favorite sayings was "one of these days!" He was preceded in death by his son, Jeffrey and daugther, Tina. Surviving are his children, Sonya (Ronn) Patterson, Victoria (Greg) Hendrick, Lisa (Daniel) Partridge, and Chanda Johnston; grandchildren, Mike, Jon, and Dan Patterson, Amanda, Gretchen, and LIz Hendrick, Marisa, and Jason Mier, Joshua, Lydia, and John Partridge, and Brianna and Alex Johnston; brothers, Leroy (Cora) and Larry (Geri); sisters, Marsha and Iris. The Funeral Service will be conducted by the Rev. Cliff Allen, Pastor at 11 a.m. Monday, August 24, 2009 at Zion United Methodist Church, Ionia with interment following at Balcom Cemetery. Military Honors will be provided by the Portland VFW Post #4090. The family will receive friends at the Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Homes, Ionia from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday.
