Leon John Wohlfert

Age 93, passed away on Tuesday, July 5, 2016. He was born on June 1, 1923 in Lansing the son of John and Amanda (Rademacher) Wohlfert. Leon was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Westphalia, and a member of the St. Joseph Society. He loved farming and later woodworking. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Richard; brother, Ernest; sisters Rita Schafer, Rosemary Spitzley and Alice Pline. Surviving are his wife of 67 years, Margaret; children Steven (Theresa) Wohlfert, Janet (David) Claus, Jerry (Cathy) Wohlfert, Paul (Carol) Wohlfert, David (Sheri) Wohlfert, Mark (Cindy) Wohlfert, Marvin Wohlfert, Allen (Cathy) Wohlfert, and Marlene (James) Schumacher; daughter-in-law, Toni (Stan) Wirth; 41 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; sister, Laura Pline; many nieces and nephews. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Eric Weber at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, July 9, 2016 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Westphalia. Rite of Committal will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m., Thursday and 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Friday at the St. Mary's Funeral Chapel, 210 N. Westphalia St. The rosary will be prayed at 5:30 p.m., Thursday and 1:30 and 5:30 p.m., Friday. Arrangements are with Lehman Funeral Homes.
