Leonard Kenney

Born December 7, 1914, lived his entire life on the same street of his beloved town of Ionia. The only exception to this was when he proudly served in the United States Navy from 1944 to 1946. He enjoyed going to the Thursday night music program at the Commission on Aging, having coffee every morning at a local restaurant with his wife and friends, and time spent with his family. He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Audrey and Jim Stencel of Ionia; three grandchildren, Dawn (Jon) Hossinger of Kendallville, IN, Russell (Jennifer) Stencel of Corona, CA, and Paul (Sheila Cummings) Stencel of Owings, MA; five great grandchildren, Alison Nelson, Candace, Courtney and Kristen Stencel, and Shane Stencel; three step great grandchildren, Heather (Hossinger) Strycker, and Krista and Nicholas James; one great great step grandchild, Samuel Strycker; one brother-in-law and sister-in-law Mrs. Edwin (Mary) Courser of Montrose; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Esther; father, Henry; mother, Byrel; brother, Floyd; sister, Lavonia Corey and Beulah O'Shea. Visitation will be Thursday at Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home, Ionia from 6-8 p.m.. Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Interment will take place at Balcom Cemetery, Ionia. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to the Ionia County Commission on Aging, in memory of Mr. Leonard F. Kenney.
