Mrs. Martha L. Dunn, age 92 of Ionia, passed away on December 28, 2010 in Flint. She was born September 27, 1918 in Benona Township, Oceana County, the daughter of Alexander and Sarah (Saynor) Forbear. Martha was a graduate of Shelby High School. She worked at the Oceana Soil Conservation Office before her marriage to Lester Dunn on October 12, 1940 in the Shelby United Methodist Church. Martha came to Ionia in 1941 when her husband joined the Independent Bank and has lived here since. She was the secretary at the First United Methodist Church for three years and worked as a secretary at M.T.U. for 10 years. Martha was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Ionia, the Ionia Eastern Star, where she had been Worthy Patron and was also the Ionia Co. Assn. President. Martha was preceded in death by her husband; 3 brothers, Archie, Albert, and George ; 3 sisters, Dorothy, Freda, and Rhodora. Surviving are her children, Robert (Karen) Dunn of Sugarland, Tx, and Janice (Robert) Dillon of Flushing; 3 grandchildren, Brian (Seema) Dunn, Robert, and Brent Dillon; 2 great-grandchildren, Alex and Kyle; several nieces and nephews. The Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m., January 4, 2011 at the First United Methodist Church, Ionia. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service at the Church. Interment will be held in the Spring at Balcom Cemetery, Ionia. For those desiring, memorial contribution may be made to the First United Methodist Church.
