Mary Fox

Age 81, passed away on Tuesday, January 24, 2012. She was born on October 5, 1930 in Portland, MI the daughter of Cyril and Antoinette (Bohr) Smith, and was a lifelong resident of Portland. Mary Lou was a loving and devoted wife and mother. Her favorite thing was to spend time with her family and friends. She enjoyed crocheting, her flower gardens, and feeding and watching the wild birds. Mary Lou will be sorely missed by all who knew her. Preceding her in death were her husband, Len; daughter, Patricia; sister, Catherine Chartrand; brothers, Bernard, David, Jim and Joe Smith. Surviving are her children, Peg Fox of Portland, Larry (Deb) Fox of Portland, Janie (Jerome) Schneider of Pewamo, Beth (Mike) Martin of Portland, David (Kim) Fox of Portland, Tom (Krista) Fox of Lowell, and Doug (Angie) Fox of Portland; 17 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; sister, Marilyn Eliser of Ashville, North Carolina; brother-in-law, Ray Chartrand of Portland; sister-in-law, Marge Smith of Portland. The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 27, 2012 at Lehman Funeral Homes, 210 E. Bridge Street, Portland, with the Rev. John Piercefield and Adam Fox presiding. Interment will follow at Portland Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Lansing and Ionia Area Hospice, in memory of Mary Lou. On line condolences may be made at www.lehmanfuneralhomes.com.
