Age 88, passed away on Tuesday, March 31, 2009. She was born on March 27, 1921 in Grand Rapids, MI the daughter of Roy and Erma (Burns) Gibbs. She was a member of Day Bible Chapel in Saranac. She retired from Amway Corporation in 1981. She married Claude Jourdan on June 6, 1939 and he preceded her in death on June 13, 1976. She then married Clifford Gibbard on November 15, 1981. He preceded her in death on November 5, 1990. She was also preceded in death by 2 sons, Clyde and Bruce Jourdan and one daughter, Claudia Suminski and 3 grandchildren; 5 brothers and 1 sister. Surviving are 3 sons, Ralph (Sharon) Jourdan of Lowell, Philip (Ruth) Jourdan of Alma, and Richard Jourdan of Grand Rapids; 2 daughters, Charlotte (Peter) Carney of Saranac, and Natalie (Clifford) Graham of Ionia; Many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great, great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Paul (Doris) Gibbs of Grand Rapids and David (Joyce) Gibbs of Grand Rapids; 3 sisters, Medell Wheat of Grand Rapids, Jane Mockerman of Grand Rapids, and Sybil (Arthur) Burrows of Big Rapids; many nieces and nephews. The Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 2, 2009 at Zion United Methodist Church with the Rev. Cliff Allen, Pastor officiating. Interment will take place at Ashley Cemetery, Grattan Township, MI. The family will receive friends at the Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Homes, 220 Rich Street, Ionia from 3-6 p.m. Wednesday.
