Mary "Pat" Jarvis
Mary "Pat" Patricia Jarvis Portland, MI Age 93, passed away on Thursday, May 8, 2014. She was born on November 22, 1920 in Ionia County, MI the daughter of Fred and Nancy (Reed) Jarvis. Pat worked for Dr. Elsie Chiropractic, Jean's Restaurant, and also worked many years at the Portland Country Club, where a golf event was even named in her honor. After retirement, she spent many winters in Florida. In her later years, she especially enjoyed the companionship at the Portland Senior Center, playing cards and socializing. Pat was definitely a one-of-a-kind character. Preceding her in death were her parents. Surviving are her cousins, Hazel (Ron) Simmons of Mulliken, Charles (Shirley) Reed of Lansing, Bonnie McDiarmid of Knoxville, TN, Nancy Harmon, Ed Green and Paul Green, all of Portland, as well as all of their extended families. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated by Rev. Larry King at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 31, 2014 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Portland. Rite of Committal will take place at Portland Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday at the church. In Lieu of Flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Patrick's Catholic Church, or to the Portland Senior Center, in memory of Pat.
