Mary Russman

Portland Age 53, our loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend was called home to our Lord on June 3, 2010. Her courageous two year battle with Leukemia ended peacefully surrounded by family at her home on Pleasant Street. Mary was known for her compassion, loving and giving nature, her strong Christian faith, her sense of humor and her beautiful smile. Mary is a recent recipient of Spring Arbor University's Honorary Alumni Award, Bachelor of Family Life Education Program to which she worked very hard to achieve. She was a former employee of the Eaton County Sheriff's Department as a deputy and worked there for 13 years. Her favorite things in life were being with family and friends, sunsets on the beach, playing games, music, writing her book of hope, watching movies, flowers, feeding the birds and squirrels, and girl's night out. Mary was preceded in death by her brother Frederick, Jr., and parents Julaine and Frederick "Fritz" Russman. She was blessed with two daughters and four granddaughters, Melissa Rapp (Summer, Lili and Stella) and Heather (Kevin Lee) Moore (Tianna); three sisters, Joan Russman, Bonnie (Pat) Dawdy and Connie (Todd) Droste; two brothers, Bill (Barbara) Russman and Bob (Tracy) Russman - 11 nieces and nephews, Brad Bloye, Sarah Russman, Michelle Scochin, Autumn Dawdy, Kristin Dawdy, Caleb Dawdy, Nicole Russman, Brandon Droste, Eric Russman and Joseph Arens as well as a 2 great nieces and one great nephew, Bridget and Ben Bloye, Ava Bryan. A visitation with the family will be held on Tuesday, June 8th from 6:00pm to 9:00pm at the Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home, 210 E. Bridge St., Portland. A Memorial Service to celebrate Mary's life will be held on Wednesday, June 9, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Joe Robbe officiating. Mary will be laid to rest at Portland Cemetery. A luncheon will be held at Mount Hope Church in Portland on 845 Ionia Rd. following the interment services. Memorial contributions may be made to the family where a charity will be selected at a later date. Online condolences can be made at www.schraubenlehman.com.
