Mary Smith

Mary Magdaline Smith Portland, Michigan Age 78, passed away on Sunday, October 5, 2014. She was born on January 19, 1936 in Wolverine, Kentucky the daughter of William and Corabelle (Smith) Little. Mary was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Ionia, served as an Deaconess, was a Sabbath School leader and a Adventure Club leader. She enjoyed camping, fishing traveling and gardening. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Smith, Sr.; a son, Herman "Herk" Smith, Jr.; and a granddaughter, Heather Decker. Surviving are her daughters Sharon (Eugene) Decker, Penny (Gary) Martin, Cindy (Stan) Owen, and Brenda (Kevin Wilson) Smith; 10 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren. The Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, October 9, 2014 at the Seventh Day Adventist Church, 721 Elmwood Drive, Ionia, with Pastor Monte D. Lantis, Jr. presiding. Interment will follow at Tuttle Cemetery, Ionia. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service Thursday at the church.
