Mary Towner
Age 88, passed away on Tuesday, March 9, 2010. She was born on September 17, 1921 in Sebewa Township, MI the daughter of Arlow and Mildred (Leak) Aves. Mrs. Towner went to Johnson Country School and graduated from Lake Odessa High School in 1939. She attended the First Baptist Church of Sebewa and was a member of the Danby Cemetery Society. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, traveling, camping, and was a member of the Great Lakes Campers of Michigan. Christine was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Marjorie (Aves)Swiler. She married Kenneth Towner on October 28, 1944 and he survives her. Also surviving are 2 sisters, Elaine Austin and Norma Bever; special neighbors, Chuck and Helen Smith and family; several nieces and nephews. The Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, March 12, 2010 at the Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Homes, Portland with Pastor Greg Mattson presiding. Interment will take place at Danby Cemetery.
