Age 78, passed away November 19, 2010. Mavis was born August 28, 1932 the daughter of Floyd and Esther (Williams) Ferguson. Mavis was a member of the First Baptist Church and often volunteered in her community. She married James Clayton Townsend on October 5, 1951 and he passed away on August 27, 1994. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and her brothers, Willard, Virgil and Carl. Surviving are her children Marvin (Julie) Townsend and Janet Townsend; 3 grandchildren, Chelsea, Andrew, and Julie Kastelan; sister Faith Cole. The Funeral Service will be held at the First Baptist Church in Ionia at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 24, 2010. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m., Tuesday at the Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home, 220 Rich St., Ionia.
