Milton Erastus Smith, age 94, of Portland, passed away Wednesday, November 8, 2017. He was born July 12, 1923 in Ferry, Michigan, the son of Delbert H. and Hannah (Loetch) Smith. Milt was the proud owner and operator of Smith Music for over 70 years. He loved playing the drums and spending time at his store. He was an esteemed veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during WWII. Milt was known to be the “town supervisor”, overseeing all projects going on around town in his red Ford truck. Milt is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Doris (Mills); daughter, Patricia Smith; sons, David Smith and Dee Gordon Smith. He is survived by his children, Barbara (Jeff) Wright of Alaska, Donald Smith of Portland, Dennis (Maggie) Smith of Massachusetts, Yvonne (Jim) Rowe of Shelby, and Dean (Judy) Smith of Portland and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
