Ionia Norman Benson Kimble age, 95 of Ionia, loving husband, father and grandfather passed away on Sunday, October 24, 2010. Norman was born April 1, 1915 in Rock River, Ohio, the son of Roy and Ruth Kimble. He graduated from Saranac High School in 1934. He was a member of the Easton United Methodist Church. He was a dairy farmer in Easton Township for 45 years. Norman met the love of his life Ethlyn Grace Edlin in the summer of 1940. They were married May 23, 1941 and had 66 wonderful years together. Norman entered the US Army on July 15, 1942. He served in the European Theatre of Operations in Germany, Holland, France, and Belgium. He participated in action against the enemy in the Battle of the Bulge. Norman was awarded the Bronze Star. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Ethlyn, his brothers Clifford and Donald, and sister Doris (Walter). Surviving are his children, Mary Jane (Joe) Everett of Belton, MO, Thomas (Mary) Kimble of Dimondale, Dennis (Jill) Kimble of Saranac, Steve (Kem) Kimble of Saranac, and Norma (Tom) White of Ionia; 13 grandchildren, Brian (Lori) Kimble, Todd (Hollie) Kimble, David (Shannon) Everett, Deborah (Nathan) Cochran, Tadd (Elma) Kimble, Nick Kimble, Ryan (Niki) Kimble, Melinda (Beau) Graf, Ben, Matt, Andrew (Meryl) Kimble, and Lynsey and Tommy White; 2 step-grandchildren, Sue (Bruce) Day, and Beth (Kevin) Lanz; 13 great-grandchildren, Tara (Chris) Kraai, Katie, Jason, Richelle, Dylan, James, Hayden, Charleigh, Carter and Layne Kimble, Kaitlyn Cochran, Shayla Fisk and Hailey Houghton. 2 great-great grandchildren, Elena and Brice Kraai, and several step-grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, October 28, 2010 at 11:00 a.m., at the Easton United Methodist Church with Pastor Nancy Patera officiating. Interment will follow at Easton Township Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m., on Wednesday at the Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home, 220 Rich St., Ionia. A luncheon will follow the interment at the Easton United Methodist Church. Memorial contributions may be made to Easton United Methodist Church in Norman's name.
