Norman M. Thelen Westphalia Age 93, loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather passed away on Sunday, February 11, 2007. He was born on September 3, 1913 to Joseph and Theresa (Rademacher) Thelen in Westphalia, Michigan. Norman was happily married to Catherine (Smith) for 62 years before her passing in 1999. He was also preceded in death by his son Joseph, granddaughter Jackie, great-granddaughter Heather, and his brothers and sisters. He is survived by his children Jeanette (Francis) Thelen, Geri (Tom) Simon, Bernice (Jerry) Davis, Walter (Bernadette) Thelen, Mark (Dawn) Thelen , Evelyn (Lee) Pohl, Rose (Russ) Snitgen, and Ray (Ann) Thelen, 23 grandchildren, and 29 great-grandchildren. He was a member of the St. Joseph Society. Norman was a lifetime member of the Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus Fr. Godez Assembly where service was a big part of his life. He served two terms as Grand Knight for the K of C and was activities chairman of the Knights for the Lansing Diocese. Father Al Miller appointed him chairman of the fund drive for the new St. Mary's Elementary School. He served on the Clinton County Intermediate School Board, Tri-County Planning Commission, and Riley Twp. Supervisor. Norman loved making music with his violin, playing cards, watching and playing baseball, and growing beautiful roses. Most of all he loved his wife and often sang, "Let Me Call You Sweetheart" to her. Along with his wife he loved his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. His Catholicism was part and parcel of his being, and will carry him home to the Lord. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Cecilio Reyna at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, February 14, 2007 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Westphalia. Rite of Committal will follow at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. on Monday, and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Tuesday at the Westphalia Funeral Chapel, 210 Westphalia St. The rosary will be prayed at 8:00 p.m. on Monday and 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday with a Scriptural Wake Service at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
