R. Ketner Obituary

Age 80, passed away on December 24, 2005. She was born on February 28, 1925 in Muir, MI the daughter of Roy and Irene (Holcomb) Ferris. Mrs. Ketner attended Portland and Ionia schools, and was voted Senior of the Year in 1995 for Ionia. Elaine was active in both the Boy and Girl Scouts, the Ionia County Commission on Aging, Ionia Area Hospice, Ionia Band Boosters, the Tots and Teens Child Study Club, a member of the First Christian Church, the Restless Ones Trailer Club, T.T.C.M. Trailer Club, the Golden Agers Trailer Club, and Domestic Violence in Ionia. She owned the Mode O' Day Clothing Store in Ionia, and married Mr. Norman Ketner on June 14, 1941 in Ionia. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Lin Ketner in 2000; 2 sisters, Marilyn Greenhoe and Virginia Evitts. Surviving are her husband Norman E. Ketner of Ionia; son, Lonny (Sue) Ketner of Belding; 6 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; 8 brothers, Verl of Florida, Ernest of Ionia, Elmer of Florida, Edward of Lyons, Kenneth of Muir and Gaylord, Bernard and Michael, all of Lyons; 3 sisters, Anita Bissell of Pewamo, Joanne Smith of S. Carolina and Shirley Young of Long Lake. The Funeral Service will be conducted by the Rev. Ray Gaylord, Pastor at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 28, 2005 at the First Christian Church, Ionia. Interment will take place at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Ionia. The family will receive friends at the Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home, 220 Rich Street, Ionia from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to the First Christian Church Memorial Fund, or to the Charity of One's Choice, in memory of Mrs. R. Elaine Ketner.
