Richard Baker

Ionia Age 70, passed away on Wednesday, September 7, 2011. Richard was born on February 20, 1941, the son of Lyle and Pearl (Bowen) Baker. He spent his entire life in Ionia and was very involved in his community. Richard married Jessie (Ward) Baker in 1962. He enjoyed walking the fields with his dog and traveling to visit relatives out of state. He learned to paint at a young age from his father. He has painted the Ionia Free Fair Floral Building, Cook/Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home, Ionia Theater, the National Bank and many other jobs within the community. Richard is preceded in death by his parents. Surviving are his wife, Jessie; children, Vicky (Rick) Manning, Scott (Tammi) Baker and Jennie (Scott) Hunter; grandchildren, Kayla, Nicole, Nolan, Megan, Andrew and Storm; siblings, Susan Sutherland, Sam Baker and Marvin Baker. The Funeral Service will be celebrated at 4:00 P.M., Saturday, September 10, 2011, at the Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home, 220 Rich St., Ionia. A luncheon will follow the service at the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, in the gymnasium, 721 Elm St., Ionia. The family will receive friends on Friday at the funeral home from 2:00-4:00 P.M. and 6:00-8:00 P.M.. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to the Renucci House at Spectrum Hospital or to the family. Arrangements are entrusted to the Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Homes.
