Richard Droste
Age 81, loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather passed away on Monday, May 11, 2009. He was born on May 14, 1927 in Detroit, MI the son of Carl and Antoinette (Schumacher) Droste. Mr. Droste retired from Hanel and Vance Construction Company at the age of 62 and was a Veteran serving in the United States Navy and Army. He loved spending time with his family, hunting, and fishing, especially the yearly family fishing trip to Hamlin Lake. Mr. Droste also enjoyed playing poker at family get togethers. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Norman and Marvin Droste. Surviving are his wife Doris (Ames) Droste of Portland; children, Sharon (Dave) Thompson of Sunfield, Toni (Elgin) Russo-Fox of Ionia, and Jeff (Jeanine) Droste of Crown Pointe, Indiana; 6 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; several foster children also survive him. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 15, 2009 at Portland Cemetery with Pastor Darrel Bosworth officiating.
