Portland Age 79, passed away on April 25, 2009. He was born September 23, 1929 in Ionia Co., the son of Earl and Mable (Goodwin) Teachout. Richard retired from Fisher Body after 30 years of service and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Post #4090 in Portland. He was a member of the F&AM - Portland. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking and traveling. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, brother, David and his wife, Sydell in 2008. Surviving are his children Richard "Rick" (Shirley) Teachout of Portland, Jeff (Debbie) Teachout of Charlotte, Deborah (Richard "Dick") Hovey of Haslett and Laurie (Pat) Thelen of Haslett; 9 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; sisters Margaret Clemens of Portland and June Burger of Vermontville; brother Bob Teachout of Vermontville; brother-in-law Stanley (Crystal) Harris of Florida. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 29, 2009 at Danby Cemetery. There will be no funeral home visitation.
