Age 80, our beloved "Dickie Thelen", husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on Thursday, February 23, 2012. He was born on December 27, 1931 in Westphalia, MI the son of Edward and Minnie (Stump) Thelen. Dickie retired from Consumers Energy, where he worked for 40 years. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a member of the V.F.W. Post # 3733 in Fowler, Westphalia and Pewamo. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Donald; sisters, Bernadette and Bernadine; in-laws, Vernon, Tony, Delores and David Martin, Tony Simon, and John Droste. Dickie leaves behind his spouse of 55 years, Phyllis; 6 children, Kevin (Joy) Thelen, Terry (Carol) Thelen, Jan (Al) Bierstetel, Mark (Cindy) Thelen, Dave (Jodi) Thelen, and Rich (Amy) Thelen; 20 grandchildren; brothers, Edward "Skip" (Karen) Thelen and Delbert (Joyce) Thelen; in-laws, Therese Thelen, Dennis (Margie) Thelen, Norma Simon, Millie Droste, Judy Martin, Roman (Mary Ann) Koenigsknecht, Fred (Gen) Martin, Paul (Linda) Armbrustmacher, and Janice (Alvin) Feldpausch. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. James Conlon at 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 27, 2012 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Westphalia. Rite of Committal will follow at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Westphalia. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Saturday, and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the St. Mary's Funeral Chapel, 210 N. Westphalia Street, Westphalia. Rosaries will be prayed at 8 p.m. Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday, and a Scriptural Wake Service will be held at 8 p.m. Sunday.
