Ronald Black

Age 61, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, November 5, 2005, surrounded by his loving family after a long battle with heart problems and a very short battle with lung cancer. He was born on September 5, 1944 in Sebewa, MI the son of Forrest and Charlotte (Shattuck) Black. Ronald attended school until the 10th grade, and then enlisted in the U.S. Navy, until his honorable discharge in 1962. Ronald retired from Oldsmobile after 32 1/2 years of service as a groundskeeper (yard bird) factory worker. They provided a foster home for 20 years with 49 foster children throughout those years. Ronald's family and his grandchildren were the joy of his life. He took pride in woodworking, building family heirlooms and spending time camping. He was preceded in death by his parents; nephews, Greg Keehn and Brian Tempelton. Surviving are his wife of 30 years, Linda; 6 children, George (Lucy) Black of Portland, Janet (Pat) Fedewa of Portland, Richard (Enid) Morris of Orleans, Waylon Black, Ronnie Cleckie and Rickie Cleckie; 7 grandchildren, Wayne Peckham, Maranda Morris, Sarah Morris, Andrea Braley, Bryan Black, Brandon Black and Elizabeth Morris; 1 great grandchild, Anna Morris; brother, Jerry (Sue) Black; sisters, Vivian (Richard) Keehn of Portland and Jeanne Tempelton of Ionia; many nieces and nephews. The Funeral Service was conducted by the Rev. Paul Bailey at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 9, 2005 at the Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home, Portland. Interment followed at Portland Cemetery. The family received friends at the funeral home from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday.
