Russell D. Pifer Lansing, Michigan Age 78, passed away on Thursday, February 6, 2014. He was born on May 27, 1935 in Clare, MI the son of Vernon S. and Mary J. (Kovack) Pifer. Mr. Pifer retired from Popoff Meat Company after 25 years of service. Russell liked to travel, seeing much of the country, and also enjoyed camping. He loved to hunt, especially deer and rabbits. Preceding him in death were his parents; infant brother, Richard in 1943; sister, Shirley Casner. Surviving are his wife, Margery Pifer of Lansing; step children, Doug (Toni) Bennett of Fremont, and Pamela Morgan of Webbervile, MI; brother, Vern J. (Dot) Pifer of Portland; nephews, Bill (Denise) Casner of Onondaga, MI, Bob (Kim) Casner of Tennessee, and Brad (Hollie) Casner of Dimondale, MI; several cousins. The Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 p.m., Thursday, February 13, 2014 at Lehman Funeral Homes, 210 E. Bridge Street, Portland, with Pastor Doug Bennett presiding. Interment will take place at Gunnisonville Cemetery, Dewitt Township. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service Thursday at the funeral home.
