Ruth L. Lucas Ionia Ruth went home to be with her Lord on Sunday, February 25, 2007. She was born on October 29, 1912 the daughter of Edward Tingley and Myrtle Galloup in Stanton, MI. Ruth married Otis Rice on July 3, 1937, who later preceded her in death on March 21, 1955. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Ionia, the Blue Star Mothers, and the American Legion Auxiliary where she also served as president. Ruth worked through the years at Vern’s Bicycle Shop and Connor Furniture. She married Gerald D. Lucas on February 23, 1957, who later preceded her in death on March 19, 1998. Ruth is also preceded in death by her son-in-law Roger Conner and brother Vernon Galloup. She is survived by two daughters Joane (Bob) Bailey and Geraldine Conner, son Richard (Nancy) Rice, 18 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 1, 2007 at the Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home, 220 Rich St., Ionia with Rev. Kendall Harger presiding. Interment will take place at Balcom Cemetery in the Spring. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 7-8:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the Funeral Home. Contributions may be made to either the First Baptist Church of Ionia, or the Ionia Commission on Aging in Ruth’s name. Online condolences may be made at www.schraubenlehman.com.
