Stanley Schafer Obituary

Age 75, loving brother, uncle, and great uncle passed away on Friday, October 10, 2003.  He was born on August 20, 1928 in Wesphalia the son of Adam and Pauline (Martin) Schafer.  Mr. Schafer was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Catholic Order of Foresters, and served on the Westphalia Township Fire Department.  Steve Co owned and operated the Schafer's Restaurant in Westphalia with his brother Donald for 35 years, and also was a dispatcher for Tri County Electric Cooperative. Mr. Schafer was a Veteran and member of the St. Johns American Legion Post # 153.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting and sports.  He was preceded in death by his parents.  Surviving are his brother, Donald (Geraldine) Schafer of Westphalia; sisters, Marie (Robert) Pohl of Westphalia and Sister DePaul Gladys of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; 7 nieces and 8 nephews; 53 great nieces and nephews.  The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by The Rev. Cecilio Reyna, Pastor at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 13, 2003 at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Rite of Committal following at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Westphalia.  The family will receive friends at the St. Mary's Funeral Chapel, 210 N. Westphalia Street, Westphalia from 7-9 p.m. Saturday and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday.  Rosaries will be prayed at 8 p.m. Saturday and 3 and 8 p.m. Sunday.
