Thelma Gladding Obituary

Age 97, passed away at her home on Luce Road. She was born on August 6, 1907 to John and Grace (Bradshaw) Cory at Lincoln Lake near Gowen, Michigan. She graduated from Belding High School in 1923 and went on to work at the Richardson Silk Mill and also at Gibsons in Greenville. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 68 years, Lemmie M. Gladding, who passed away July 13, 1999; grandson, Raymond Lyle Crippen in 1985. She passed away at home surrounded by loving children Donald Gladding and Burma (David) Riley; she is also survived by one granddaughter, Debra (Christian) Lewis of Ovid, New York; grandsons, Raymond Crippen, Ryan Reister, Blake Spicer, and Michael Staudenmeyer. She was from a family of nine children, all deceased except Donald (Marilynn) Cory of Belding, Burma (Richard) Castle of Darrien, Conn.; sister-in-law Lucile (Hugh) Cory of Greenville, Marion (Paul) Gladding and special sister-in-law Josephine (Estel) Gladding, who visited the family home every Friday night for years. A Funeral Service was held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, December 13, 2004 at the Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home, 220 Rich Street, Ionia with Interment taking place at Clear Lake Cemetery. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to Carson City Hospice, or to the Ionia County Commission on Aging, in memory of Mrs. Thelma Louise Gladding.
