Theodore Mayhew

Theodore Joseph Mayhew Portland Age 75, found eternal rest with his Lord on December 14, 2006. He is now reunited with his father, Theodore R., brothers Jack H., Robert Leo and a sister Mayre (Mayhew) Heiler after a courageous battle with COPD, lung cancer and multiple injuries sustained in an auto accident on Friday, December 8, 2006. Born September 11, 1931 in Lansing. Ted graduated from Holy Cross High School, served four years in the United States Air Force during the Korean War and retired from TRW, Portland, with eleven years of service in 2000. He was member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and a member of the Portland V.F.W. Post# 4090. Surviving are his 100 year old mother, Etta C. (Fedewa) Mayhew (currently living at Heartland Healthcare Center, Ionia), sister-in-law (and guardian angel) Carolyn Mayhew of Lake Odessa, sister-in-law, Lucetta Mayhew of Lansing, brother-in-law, Mike Heiler of Buchanan, special friends Greg "Hawk" Fedewa of Portland and Rae Leece of Lansing, Nephews Bob (Deena) Mayhew of Grand Rapids and Mike (Lisa) Heiler of Wacousta, Nieces Laura (Mayhew) (Doud) Pung of Portland and Jamie Mayhew of Chicago, four great nieces and nephews and many aunts, uncles and cousins. The Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m.,Wednesday, January 3, 2007 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Portland with Rev. Larry King presiding. The family will recieve guests and visitors from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass. Military Honors will be provided by the V.F.W. Post# 4090 and the lunch will be provided by the Portland V.F.W. Post# 4090 Womens Auxiliary immediately following the Mass. Rite of Committal will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Lansing. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Lung Association. Arrangements are with the Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home, Portland.
