Valerie Ann Font Ionia Age 73, passed away on Thursday, September 26, 2013. She was born on March 20, 1940 in Hartford, CT. the daughter of Edward and Geneveive Capen. Valerie enjoyed researching family history and was proud of her ancestors that came here on the Mayflower. She enjoyed attending Bible study and the outdoors. Valerie was very interested in Ionia's history concerning Clay Acres. She was also very active in community involvement during the 1970's. Valerie loved song and dance some of her favorites were Michael Jackson, Phillip Phillips and Jackie Evancho. She loved huge warm smiles and enjoyed being part of many lives as a friend and at times a mentor. She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Jack W. Font, Jr.; brother, Doug Capen. Surviving are her sons, Mark and Michele (Rizzo) Font and Troy and Terri (Brand) Font; grandchildren Jessica Kaziara, Sarah Font, Eric Font, Nicholas Font, Zachary Font, John Taus, Jason Taus and Jack Miller; sister, Pam (Capen) Webber. The Funeral Service will be conducted by Pastor Kenneth Hager at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 2, 2013 at the Lehman Funeral Home, 220 Rich St., Ionia. Interment will be in Tuttle Cemetery.
