Ionia Age 77, passed away on Sunday, September 4, 2011. Velma was born on September 19, 1933, the daughter of Fred and Lillian (Miller) Coulson. Velma loved spending time with her family and friends, mastering the New York Times Sunday Crosswords, her grand dogs and enjoying her yard and its wildlife. Velma was blessed with two families, the Coulsons and the Slaters. She is preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Lillian Coulson and Keith and Genevieve Slater; former husband David Ludwick; siblings, Lewis Coulson, Arlene Edmonds, Bob Slater, and Marlene Hoppough. Surviving are her children, Nick (Larriann) Ludwick, Susan (Gregg) Butts, Gale (Gregg) Yeomans, Tony (Esper) Ludwick, Beth (Tom) Krausz, Tim (Dee Bolt) Ludwick and Patrick (Becky) Ludwick; grandchildren, Eric (Kelly) Ludwick, Chelsea (Matt) Mates, Caden Kipp, Bradley Butts, Daniel Yeomans, Eben (Krystal) Krausz, Tommy, Nick, Brittney and Sommer Krausz; great-grandchildren, Ella Valley, Regan Ludwick, Raina and Rhone Krausz; siblings, Mike (Pat) Coulson and Dee (Roy) Cook; brother-in-law, Pete (Annie) Ludwick; sister-in-law, Beverly Ludwick. The Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, September 10, 2011 at the Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home, 220 Rich St., Ionia. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11:00 A.M. until the service begins. A luncheon will follow the service at the Moose Lodge. Interment will take place at Balcom Cemetery at a later date. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to the Sparrow Lansing/Ionia Hospice, St. Jude's Childrens Hospital.
