Age 84, passed away on Saturday, May 2, 2009. He was born on December 13, 1924 in Ionia County the son of Ferdinand and Pauline (Arens) Martin. He was a member of St. Mary Parish and the Westphalia Knights of Columbus St. Jude Thaddeus Council. He worked for TRW in Portland for 32 years before retiring and loved farming. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, David Martin; 2 brothers-in-law, Anthony Simon and John Droste; sister-in-law, Dolores Martin. Surviving are his 2 brothers, Anthony Martin and Frederick (Genevieve) Martin; 6 sisters, Norma Simon, Millie Droste, Mary Ann (Roman) Koenigsknecht, Phyllis (Dick) Thelen, Linda (Paul) Armbrustmacher, and Janice (Alvin) Feldpausch; sister-in-law, Judy Martin; several nieces and nephews. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 am Tuesday, May 5, 2009 at St. Mary Catholic Church with Rev. Cecilio Reyna presiding. Rite of Committal will be in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the St. Mary Funeral Chapel, 210 N. Westphalia Street, Westphalia from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday.
