Veronica Pohl

Age 92, passed away on March 9, 2009. She was born on August 14, 1916 in Fowler, MI the daughter of Joseph and Ida (Feldpausch) Koenigsknecht. Mrs. Pohl was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pewamo. She loved quilting, collecting thimbles, and going on mystery trips with her daughters. She also enjoyed music and dancing. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo; daughter, Mary Ann; granddaughter, Carli Smith; 2 great grandchildren, Hannah Rose Thelen and Lucas Reddin; 4 sisters, Anna, Regina, Irene, and Frances; 2 brothers, Joseph and Anthony. Surviving are her children, Leo Pohl (Evelyn), Gladys Schneider (John), Marie Smith (Glenn), Rose Ann Miller (Michael), Therese Pohl-Markowitz (Dave), and Laurie Kowatch (Philip); 26 grandchildren; 39 great grandchildren; brother, Alfred Koenigsknecht; sister-in-law, Edna Weber; several nieces and nephews. A special thanks to the Ionia Area Hospice, especially Deb, Kathy, and Lisa for their wonderful care of Veronica. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 13, 2009 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Pewamo with Rev. Charlon O. Mason presiding. The Rite of Committal will follow at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Westphalia. The family will receive friends at the St. Mary's Funeral Chapel, 210 N. Westphalia Street, Westphalia from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday. The rosaries will be prayed at 8 p.m. Wednesday and 3 p.m. Thursday. There will be a Scriptural Wake Service held at 8 p.m. Thursday. Arrangements are entrusted to the Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Homes, Portland. Online condolences may be made at www.schraubenlehman.com.
