Virginia D. Sanborn Portland, Michigan Age 92, passed away on Saturday, May 3, 2014. She was born on December 30, 1921 in Eagle, MI the daughter of John and Mary (Miller) Keusch. Mrs. Sanborn graduated from and was married at Resurrection Catholic Church in Lansing, and was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Portland. Virginia was a wonderful baker, including cinnamon rolls and homemade bread, reading, and spending time with her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; infant son, Joel; infant daughter, Joyce; husband, Kenneth Albert Sanborn; brothers, William, Clement, Robert and Julius Keusch. Surviving are her children, Judy (Gale) Stevens of Lansing; James Sanborn of Bath, Robert (Chris) Sanborn of Royal Oak, Lawrence (Mary) Sanborn of St. Johns, and Sandra Hornby of Portland; 18 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Gertrude Keusch of Mt. Pleasant. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Larry King at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Portland. Rite of Committal will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Lansing. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Lehman Funeral Homes, 210 E. Bridge Street, Portland. A Rosary will be prayed at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to Lansing Catholic High School-St. John Paul the Great Chapel Building Fund, in memory of Virginia.
