Wayne Schrauben

Portland, MI Age 61, passed away on Monday, July 13, 2009. He was born on December 6, 1947 in South Riley the son of Clarence and Irene (Weiland) Schrauben. Wayne was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and retired from General Motors after 31 years of service. He loved to squirrel and goose hunt and truly enjoyed his time going up north hunting with his family and friends. He was very proud of his grandchildren and loved to watch them play sports. He was preceded in death by his parents; 1st wife, Anne Schrauben in 1994. Surviving are his wife Darlene (Vashaw) Schrauben of Portland; 6 children, Brenda (Doug) Smith of Portland, Lisa (Barry) Kemmis of Portland, Randy (Annette) Schrauben of Westphalia, Christy (Brian) Snitgen of Portland, Marti (Kristen) Schrauben of Portland, and Tim (Allison) Hardin of Williamston; 17 grandchildren, Nikole (Brian) Brown, Kelsey Sheaffer, Riley and Graham Smith, Tate and Kylee Schrauben, Kaleb and Justus Riley, Rhet, Alaina, and Macey Schrauben, Carter Kemmis, Bryce, Ty, and Kennedy Snitgen, and Sam and Lydia Hardin; 1 great grandson, Kaeden Brown; siblings, Marlene (David) Lefke of Portland, Diane (Jack) Zimmerman of Portland, Germaine (Dan) Hinds of Portland, Joanie (Randy) Sandborn of Portland, and Leon Schrauben of Chicago; In laws, Pat (Joan) Vashaw, Bonnie (Wally) Czaika, and Val (Paul) Fisher; his extended Gross family; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews; special companion, Pepper. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am Friday, July 17, 2009 at St. Patrick Catholic Church with the Rev. Larry King presiding. Rite of Committal will follow at Portland Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home, Portland from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday. The rosary will be prayed at 8 p.m. Wednesday and 3 p.m. Thursday. There will be a scriptural wake service held at 8 p.m. on Thursday. Online condolences may be made at www.schraubenlehman.com
