William Curns Obituary

Age 69, passed away on Wednesday, January 18, 2006. He was born on May 22, 1936 in Houghton Lake, MI the son of Harley and Nellie (Bond) Curns. Bill was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, a member of the American Legion and past member of the Portland VFW Post # 4090. Bill enjoyed working on engines, hunting, fishing, camping with his family and spending time at the old house up north. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Beverly; daughter, Michelle; special friend, Leon Pearson. Surviving are his wife of 45 years, Joyce Curns of Portland; sons, Steven (Teresa) Curns of Portland, Gordy (Patty) Curns of Portland and Phillip (Kellie) Curns of Woodland; grandchildren, Danielle, Angela, Amber, Brittanie and Shane; sisters, Mary Pearson, Violet Henry, Carol (Marvin) Bedard, Rita (Dan) Duma, Vicki Searles and Robyn (Ron) Monville; brothers, Elmer (Judy) Curns, Bruce (Deb) Curns, Robert (Sherry) Curns and Dave (Sue) Curns; brothers-in-law, Jerry (Jane) Goodman, Gene (Letha) Goodman and Ron (Jane) Goodman; sisters-in-law, Carol (Ron) Shinaver and Gladys Fernholz; special friends, Bob (Dorothy) Ritz and the Pearson family. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 23, 2006 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Portland with the Rev. Larry King, Pastor presiding. Rite of Committal will follow at Portland Cemetery. Military Graveside Honors will be provided by the VFW Post #4090. The family will receive friends at the Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home, Portland from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday. A Rosary will be prayed at 3 p.m. and a Vigil Service held at 8 p.m. on Sunday. In Lieu of Flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ingham Hospice Services in memory of Mr. William H. Curns.
