William Koster

William "Bill" Anthony Koster Portland Age 70, passed away on Wednesday, October 04, 2006. He was born on October 19, 1935 the son of Louis J. and Oliva C. (Trierweiler) Koster. Bill had a great love for music he was a member of St. Edward Catholic Church in Lake Odessa where he played the organ for the past 15 years. Bill also served St. Mary's Catholic Church in Westphalia as the organist and served St. Patrick Catholic Church in Portland as a choir director and the organist for more than 30 years. He retired from the State of Michigan after 34 years of service. Bill enjoyed winters in Florida. Bill is preceded in death by his first wife, Genny in 1988, brothers Paul and James (Mary Ann) Koster, parents, and brother-in-law Robert Reynolds. Surviving are his wife Marilyn of Portland, son Scott (Shawn) Koster of Portland, Grandchildren Michael, Matthew, and Cecelia Koster, sisters Connie Koster of Lansing, Monica (Fred) Sanders of Lansing, Marie Reynolds of Lansing, sisters-in-law, Arlene Koster of Grand Ledge, special friend Erma Beattie of Lansing, and numerous nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian burial will be conducted by Rev. Thomas Hack on Saturday, October 7, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Edward Catholic Church, 531 Jordan Lake St., Lake Odessa. The family will be receiving friends on Thursday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at the Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home, 210 Bridge St., Portland, with a rosary prayed at 8:00 p.m., and Friday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at St. Edward Catholic Church, Lake Odessa, with a Scriptural Wake Service to be prayed at 7:00 p.m. Contributions may be made to any charity of choice in William's name.
