PAID OBITUARY – PORTLAND REVIEW AND OBSERVER NEXT AVAILABLE EDITION SCHRAUBEN, WILLIAM N. PORTLAND, MI Age 72, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Wednesday, February 23, 2005. He was born on November 23, 1932 in Riley Township, MI the son of Mathias and Mamie (Trierweiler) Schrauben. Mr. Schrauben was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus Portland Council #2168. Bill was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in Korea, and a member of the Portland V.F.W. Post #4090. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter-in-law, Denise Schrauben; grandson, Justin Schrauben; sisters, Elda Pierce and Marie Beard; brothers, James, Mathias, LaVern and Thomas Schrauben. Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Marie of Portland; children, William Schrauben of Jackson, Ted (Nancy) Schrauben, Dave (Carol) Schrauben, Steve (Lori) Schrauben, Sharon (Mark) Hengesbach, Louise (Dave) Pung, Kaye (Chris) Sandborn and Jan (Jim) Simon, all of Portland; 26 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; brothers, Donald Schrauben of Portland and Dennis (Karen) Schrauben of Grand Ledge, MI; sisters, Arlene (Bud) McCrumb of Winterhaven, FL, Gertrude Dilly of Rockford and Betty Dinkel of Grand Rapids; sisters-in-law, Vearl Schrauben, Mary Ellen Schrauben and Lori Schrauben, all of Portland; several nieces and nephews. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Larry King, Pastor at 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 28, 2005 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Portland. Rite of Committal will follow at Portland Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the Portland V.F.W. Post #4090. The family will receive friends at the Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home, Portland from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Rosaries will be prayed at 3 and 8 p.m. Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday. A Scriptural Wake Service will be held at 8 p.m. Sunday. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to the Father Flohe Foundation, St. Patricks Athletic Association or to Ingham Visiting Nurse and Hospice, in memory of Mr. William N. Schrauben.
