William Shattuck Obituary

Portland Age 79, passed away on Monday, October 19, 2009. Bill was born on the family farm on August 19, 1930 where he still resided. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1951 until 1955. He was a life member of the V.F.W. Post #4090 in Portland and the Grand River Conservation Club in Portland. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, and metal detecting. He enjoyed gold mining in Alaska where he and his wife, Germaine spent their summers. He was preceded in death by his parents Morris and Clara Shattuck; brothers Allan (Belva), Bob (Genet), and Wayne Shattuck. Bill is survived by his wife of 54 years, Germaine; children Kathy, Ken, Jack (Mary Kay), Jon (Jean), and Lee Ann; grandchildren Kraig (Lisa), J.D., Jessica, Stephanie, Ashley (Terry), Alan, Nick, Kellie, and Clara, Maria and Jacob; brothers Don (Doris) and Vern (Leota) and three sisters-in-law. The Funeral Liturgy will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 23, 2009 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Portland with Rev. Larry King, presiding. Rite of Committal will be at Portland Cemetery. Military graveside services will be provided by V.F.W. Post #4090. The family will receive friends 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., Thursday at Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home, 210 E. Bridge St., Portland. A Scriptural Wake Service will be held at 8 p.m.. Memorial contributions may be made to the Grand River Conservation Club or to Heartland Hospice in memory of Bill.
