Robert Jay Molhoek

Robert J “Bob” Molhoek 7-28-1930 to 7-13-2020. Bob was born in his mothers sewing room in Grand Rapids, MI, the youngest of five children. He was charming and outgoing lad and was involved in many extracurricular activities. Bob married his high school sweetheart, Doris J. Menish on February 17, 1951. Bob and Doris were married for 66 years when she died in 2017. They moved to St. Joseph, MI in 1955 when he was offered an insurance agent position with Larry Bell Insurance Agency. As his career grew, Bob became a partner and the co-owner of Insurance Management System which still exists today. Bob was very involved in many organizations throughout his life including Berrien County Republican Party, Hemophilia Foundation of Michigan, Memorial/Lakeland Hospital Board, The United Way Board, The Follies, Berrien Hills Quartet, Crooked Lake Association, long time member of The First Congregational Church of St. Joseph and first campaign manager for Fred Upton. Bob’s family and friends will remember him as a warm, fun, generous, kind, funny man who had a zest for life, was a great storyteller and had a smile and friendly greeting to all he met. Bob is pre-deceased by his siblings John, Irene, Harold and Jim, by his wife Doris, son Steve and daughter Barb. Bob is survived by his children Felicia Givens and Carolyn Molhoek, daughter-in-law Mary Ann Ahrens, grandchildren Jen Hieb, Brad Molhoek, Devon Early and Anna Early and very special great-grandson William Molhoek. A Celebration of Life Graveside Service will take place at 12:00 PM, Saturday, July 18, 2020 at Riverview Cemetery, St Joseph with Pastor Hubers officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hemophilia Foundation of Michigan, 1921 West Michigan Avenue, Ypsilanti, MI 48197, United Way of Southwest Michigan, 2015 Lakeview Ave, St Joseph, MI 49085 and The Salvation Army of Benton Harbor, 233 Michigan St. Benton Harbor, MI 49022.
