Dorothy Sowles

Dorothy I. Sowles, age 88 of Stanton, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 20, 2019 at the Laurels of Carson City. Dorothy loved playing bingo. In her younger years she would walk uptown every day. The past two years, Dorothy lived at the Laurels of Carson City where she enjoyed her daily games of bingo, socializing, meeting new people, and making new friends. Dorothy’s family would like to thank everyone at Laurels for the loving care they provided to her. Surviving Dorothy are her two daughters, Donna (Gale) Goodsell of Fenwick; Carol (William) LayPort of Houghton Lake; grandchildren, Lisa (Charlie) Sylvester of Houghton Lake; Jennifer (Matt) Daggett of Sheridan; Jason (Jessica) Goodsell of Berrien Springs; Michelle (Steve) Burkhart of Florida; Melissa Cole of Florida; Melinda (Aaron) Stevens of Wynn; Stanley (Martina) LayPort of Georiga; Teresa (Jody) Alderman of Florida; sister, Elsie Schultz of Manistee; brother, Charles Smith of Cascade; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Merele & Rosie Sowles of Stanton; 23 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren. Dorothy was preceded in death by her mother, Helen Cross; father, Floyd Malott; husband, William (Bill) Sowles; grandson, William LayPort Jr. and many brothers and sisters. A celebration of Dorothy’s life is being planned for the spring. Final inurnment will be at McBride Cemetery.
