Lee Christensen, age 85 of Sidney, passed away on Sunday, January 5, 2020 at the Laurels of Carson City. While there are many words which could be used to describe Lee the best are, dairy farmer, animal lover, baker, and her favorite, mom and grandma. To say Lee loved her animals would probably be an understatement. It didn’t matter if it was animals on the farm, horses she liked riding, or pets that needed a home, Lee had a soft spot for them all. In her younger years, Lee enjoyed painting and would often paint pictures of animals or beautiful landscapes. She was also known as her family’s official baker and made the most delicious cakes. Lee loved making birthday and wedding cakes almost as much as her family enjoyed eating them. Later in life, Lee enjoyed her visits with Sandy Sheaffer and the family greatly appreciated the time she spent with Lee. Lee is survived by two daughters, Toni Jensen (Bill McLaughlin) of Sidney; Sarah “Dale” Christensen of East Jordan; three sons, Wayne (Jaye) Christensen of Stanton; Roger Christensen (Tracy Houghton) of Sidney; Randy (Cyrena) Christensen of Carson City; 13 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and one soon-to-be born great great grandchild. Also surviving Lee are her brothers, Dale (Fran) Christensen of Edmore; Larry (Marion) Christensen of Sumner; Dan Christensen of Stanton; Keith Christensen of Blanchard; Gary Christensen of McBride; many nieces and nephews and her four-legged best friend Rosie. Lee was preceded in death by her parents, Harry & Florence (Hansen) Christensen and her husband, Ivan Christensen. A celebration of Lee’s life is being planned for the Spring of 2020.
