Betty Pepoy

Betty Lou Pepoy, June 10, 2015, age 85 Betty was born in Detroit, MI on January 10, 1930, the oldest daughter of Roy and Verna Smith. On December 6, 1948, she married Joseph Pepoy, a marriage which lasted 65 years until his death on March 25, 2014. She worked for several years with severely mentally and physically handicapped children and loved to spend time in her flower garden. During her later years she was cared for by the wonderful staff at My Doctors Inn and most recently by the staff from Heart to Heart Hospice. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. She will be greatly missed, loved and remembered every day. She was predeceased by her spouse Joseph; parents Roy and Verna Smith; Brother Roy Smith Jr.; Sister Gail Thompson; and nieces Shelley Mepyans; Kathy Wilkie; and Judith Pepoy. To continue her memory, she is survived by her much loved children Joseph (Victoria) Pepoy, Steven (Mary) Pepoy and Anne Marie (Ronald) Guard. Her grandchildren Christopher (Dawn) Pepoy, Stacey (Matthew) Stone, Joseph Pepoy, Michael Grosso, Brian Pepoy; and Rebecca Guard. Her great-grandchildren Alexis, Brody and Colton Pepoy, and M.J. and soon-to-be Savanah Stone. Brother Paul (Mary) Smith; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Visitation is Sunday, June 14, 3-9 pm with a 7:00 pm Rosary at the Chas. Verheyden Funeral Home at 28499 Schoenherr, Warren. In state Monday, June 15 at 9:00 am until Funeral Mass 9:30 a.m. to be celebrated by Monsignor John Hall at St. Martin dePorres Parish 31555 Hoover Road, Warren. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or Heart to Heart Hospice.
