Albert Hare Obituary

Albert “Al” Jr. Hare, 93, passed to his heavenly reward on July 29, 2019 with family gathered around him at Grand Village. He was born on July 14, 1926 in Spring Valley, MN to Robert and Iva Hare. They moved to the family farm in rural Remer, then to Oregon City, OR, where he was inducted into the United States Army and served in the South Pacific, earning Army of Occupation, Victory, Good Conduct and Asiatic Pacific Service medals. In 1950 he was united in marriage to Jeanette Nyhous and in December would have celebrated 69 years of adventure. They moved to Remer and purchased a 480 farm. He went into road construction, built and managed the Remer Senior Citizen Apartments, plus remodeled and built several homes and two lake cabins in the Remer area. The most rewarding was several years of gold mining in Alaska where sons and grandsons gathered to work the mine and explore. Travels took him to Costa Rica, Scandinavia, all over the United States, and most importantly, the Holy Lands where he had the privilege of walking where Jesus walked. After retirement they lived in Arizona for 20 years. He loved the Lord, he wore out two “living bibles” reading one or two chapters every night before retiring. He served the Lord as church board members at West Cohasset Chapel in several building projects and two short term mission projects to Costa Rica. Al was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Lavaughn (Rex) Harmon, Alda(Gene) Godfrey; brother, Harold (Hazel), Larry (Lorraine), Mervyn (Sandra). He is survived by his loving wife, Jeanette; sons, Robert (Luella), Mike (Lois), Jeffrey (Becky); brother, Donovan Hare; grandsons, Dustin, Trevor John, Jerame, Eric, Zachary; granddaughters, Angela and Chelsea; 9 special great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Memorial Service: 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 5, 2019 with a gathering of friends one hour prior to the service all at West Cohasset Chapel, 24650 MN-6, Cohasset, MN 55721.
