Dennis Gene Tennison, 75, of Bovey, MN, passed away Sunday, June 30, 2019 at Essentia Health-SMDC in Duluth, MN. He was born March 25, 1944 in Robbinsdale, MN to Loretta and Earl Tennison. They moved to Jacobson, MN in 1945 and he graduated from McGregor High School in 1962. He joined the Air Force in 1964 and served at Finland Station Radar Base, Finland, MN until 1968. He married JoAnne Talonen September of 1965 and they had two children, Duane Tennison and Diane Mahonen. Dennis was an active volunteer in the Minnesota United Snowmobile Association, local snowmobile clubs and First United Church. He worked at Blandin Paper Company as a Master Electrician, retiring in 2006. He continued to enjoy his trade throughout his retirement. Dennis was a proud 40+ year Greenway Hockey season ticket holder. He loved deer hunting, turkey hunting and fishing. Dennis loved his grandchildren, Benjamin and Kate, the BWCA trips and monthly dinner dates with family and friends. Over the years he happily planted thousands of pine trees at the lake, his favorite place to be. He was a fantastic host and loved having company at the lake for fish fry’s, a cup of ARCO coffee, a game of cribbage and conversation, and his beloved “Spam Camp”. He is preceded in death by his parents, Loretta and Earl Tennison; mother and father-in-law, Lila and Arne Talonen and a nephew, Jamie Tennison. Dennis is survived by his wife, JoAnne; son, Duane Tennison; daughter, Diane (Timo) Mahonen, grandchildren, Benjamin and Kate; brother, Jim (Mary) Tennison; sister, Linnea Tennison; brother and sister-in-law’s, Bunny and Willie Berndt, Mauri and Bev Talonen. He is also survived by his dearest friend Jerry Kujala. Visitation: 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, July 7, 2019 at Andrews-Libbey Funeral Home & Cremation Services.
